Idea for dealing with a couple of BS bows...

Postby LBR on Mon Jul 26, 2010 4:03 pm

I posted the saga about my friend and the two pieces of junk he got for around $1,000 (second pos was sent as a replacement for the first pos). We decided it would be a good idea for me to carry these bows around with me to all the different tournaments I go to, just to let folks see what kind of "quality" you get for a grand. Hey Dave--you reading this? Sure you aren't.

I figure I can hit a shoot or three in TN this year, the AL state championship, and next year I'll make the rounds including the IBO Worlds. I can show folks what happens when you put a flemish string on a longbow (that was the claim--the string caused the limbs to twist) and what really happens to certain bows when drawn to 28" (even when they are advertised being drawn to 40+ inches)--i.e., the riser shattered.

One way or another these bows will get some attention. Would have been a whole lot easier if the bowyer would have simply honored his warranty, or even took Jim up on his offer to take a Martin (or ANY functioning bow) as a replacement.

I'll get pictures when the bows get here--Jim is sending them to me. I should clarify, I'll be taking them to the IBO Traditional Worlds, not the regular one. When they aren't "on tour" with me, I'll leave them hanging out in the open in my shop for visitors to ask about.

It's better to screw with me than to screw with my friends.

Got a call right after the above post. Jim mailed the bows out to me today. He cautioned me to be very careful--think he's still digging splinters out from the shattered riser, and the twist on the longbow has gotten much worse--he told me to be very careful when stringing, lest it jump out of the grooves, and don't even attempt to shoot it. Evil, awful, bow destroying flemish strings.....

Probably a good idea; if you did, you'd have to kill him to ever sleep again.
